Find That Extra Energy To Get Through Your Workout

We all struggle just to get through our crazy, hectic lifestyle. When you have a demanding career, a busy social life, and a family in tow, it can be really hard to find the extra energy you need to get through that fitness workout that will actually improve your health and make you feel better.

It ends up being a vicious cycle where you need energy to get through a workout that can improve your health enough to give you the energy you need. In order to get immediate and lasting results from a workout, you need to be consistent; missed workouts will drastically curtail your efforts and leave you with little results. According to All Max Nutrition,

Without regular stimulation of our muscles through increasingly heavier and more intensive workloads, they will simply fail to adequately respond (as there will be nothing to respond to). Atrophy will occur and we will again have to ramp up the volume if further gains are to be sought.

This leaves us wondering what can we do to get that energy boost we need to keep pushing ourselves further and further in our workouts so that we can see the results we’re reaching for.

Evaluate Your Life

Learn how to relax. This might seem to be counterproductive in our approach to getting fit but one reason that many people lack energy to work out is because their plate is too full. If you’re constantly on the go and are not giving yourself enough down time to just stop and rejuvenate, your body will not want to take on another activity. Period. Exercise is mostly mental and when your daily life has taken away your mental drive your physical drive will soon follow.

Learn how to stop and take in a few moments of calm before you embark on any new activity. Turn off all your gadgets and devices for a little while and give your mind a rest. You’ll be amazed at the results when you see what happens when you give your mind a rest.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep should become a priority in your life and not just something you can catch when you can. When we get enough sleep we are better equipped to handle just about anything. Make sure that you get between 7-9 hours of sleep every night to help you function better throughout the day. Without an adequate amount of sleep we won’t be able to focus on our daily tasks or a workout.

You also want to make sure that you get consistent sleep in order to make sure your body is running smoothly. There is no such thing as a sleep bank where you can sleep extra long on one night a week and hardly catch any the others. When you maintain a consistent sleep schedule your health will be that much better.

Finally, you need to realize that sometimes it’s your habits that can cause your energy to wane. Notice what WebMD has to say about what can cause a zap in your energy supply,

For every hour spent channel surfing, people walk 144 fewer steps, according to one Harvard study. The result? Slow and steady weight gain that drags you down…. That sluggishness also makes you less likely to gear up for a pound-pairing workout.

Their doctors recommend that you take steps to break the cycle by cutting back on your TV time or getting in some movement while you watch. Watch your favorite programs while you’re on the treadmill or your other workout equipment so that you don’t get into that sedentary lifestyle you’re starting to lead.
